Lync is a handy program that allows you to connect with other using instant messaging, video conferencing, and audio calling. When you open the Lync main window you can change the view by clicking the buttons under your personal information. Your default view is the Contacts view which displays contact groups, and their current presence status and network. You can switch to the Conversations view which displays past chats, meetings and calls. Or, you can use the Dial pad view which displays a dial pad that you can use to enter phone numbers for audio calling.

To use Lync meetings optimally, you will need to use Microsoft Outlook. You should also have a webcam and microphone. To schedule a meeting, simply right-click the contact with which you wish to schedule a meeting, and select Schedule a Meeting. An Outlook window will open where you can enter your meeting details. If you don’t use Outlook, you can still schedule meetings with the Lync Web Scheduler. Contacts you invite using the scheduler will receive a link to the Lync Web App Meeting Client.

Windows 8.1 changes and improves upon some of the features of Windows 8. Windows 8.1 boots to the Start screen by default. But, if you would like to boot directly to the Desktop instead, you just have to change the settings. Move your pointer to the right of your screen to open the Charms bar, and click Settings. Select Personalize, and select Taskbar and Navigation from the Personalization box. Choose the Navigation tab, and check When I sign in or close all apps on screen, go to the desktop instead of Start from the Start screen section.
File Explorer now opens by default o the This PC hub, which replaces My Computer. This PC contains Folders, Devices and drives, and Network locations. You can also access your Favorites and SkyDrive from the left pane. Click the File Explorer icon on the Taskbar to access these locations.


PowerPoint 2013 gives you a variety of ways to share your presentations. If you click on the File tab, and select Share in the left pane, you will see several different sharing options. To share the presentation directly to certain users through SkyDrive, click the Invite People button. To email the presentation as an attachment, click the Email button, and select Send as Attachment. To give the presentation online through a web browser, click the Present Online button. To publish the slides to SharePoint, click the Publish Slides button.

If you have Lync 2013 installed with your Office suite, you can share your presentation with another Lync user. Make sure that you are logged into your Lync service, and click on the Review tab in PowerPoint. Click the Share Now, or Send by IM button in the Share group.
You can also use Office Presentation Service which allows you to present your slide show to a remote audience over the Internet, and allows users to download content. Click on the Slide Show tab, and click the Present Online button in the Start Slide Show group. Click the Connect button, and log in using your Windows Live ID. You will receive a unique URL for your presentation that you can send my email, or copy to use how you desire.

In IBM Notes 9 there are a lot of things that you can do to customize your experience. The Discover Page allows you to access information about new features, tips, resources and gives you links to more information. You can set a Home Page which will contain the features that you use most frequently. Click the Quick Links tab on the Discover Page, and click the Change your Home Page link. Click the Click here for Home Page options arrow to expand your options, and click the Create a New Home Page button. Follow the steps in the New Page wizard to customize your new home page.  
You can also add shortcut buttons that will give you quick access to your Inbox or Calendar. Click on the View menu on the Menu Bar, and select Show Shortcut Buttons from the menu. Click beside the shortcut buttons that you wish to add.

The new i0S 7 update has brought some fun changes to the camera app. The location of many of the buttons are still the same, but the options menu has been removed. You can now toggle between shooting moves by swiping the shutter button. In addition to the video and Panorama mode, there is now a Square mode. This will allow you to take square photos that are perfect for sharing on social media sites.  
You can apply real-time filters to photos in the Square and Photo modes by tapping the filter button to the right of the shutter button. Tap on the filter that you want to use, and tap the shutter button to take the picture with that effect. You can also apply filters to photos that are already in your camera roll. Just tap on a photo, tap the Edit button, and tap the filters icon. Select the filter you want to use, and click the Apply button. 

A useful feature in Acrobat XI is the ability to edit an image inside of the PDF without having to open an additional program. In the Tools pane, click the content editing button, and click the edit text and images button. Select the image in your PDF that you want to edit, and editing tools will appear in the format section of the tools pane. You can flip, rotate or crop the image, as well as replace the image.
If you need to make more advanced changes to the image, you can open the image in a different program. Click the edit using button, and select the program that you want to use. Make changes to the image in the editing program, and click the save button. Close the program and the changes you made to the image will be automatically applied to the image in your PDF.
